Sunday night’s General Assembly is not really an assembly in the usual meaning of the word. There are no discussions of Model County, no chanting or cheering by the citizens. It is a solemn gathering of citizens of all ages to gather together and reflect on the past, contemplate the present and dream for the future. The memorial service is for all of those who have gone through the program and are no longer with us. There is a real sense of belonging, of companionship that forms throughout this program and the memorial service is one of the most meaningful events which the Boys State Citizens have the opportunity to witness.
